Tucson, Davis Monthan, Pima Museum and Amarg storage overflight

11th-14th February 2015

Several visits between the locations making use of the sun angles.

Although not the best base for photography from outside the fence,  Davis Monthan in Tucson Arizona is just one of those bases that you sit and wait and just wait to see what turns up.

The 355th Wing operate from Davis Monthan with the A10. With much spotlight on this air platform being retired in the not too distant future these were high on my agenda to photograph.

More A10s were seen operating from the newly formed 944th Wing Dogpatchers SQN.

Eight A-10C Thunderbolt IIs from the 124th Fighter Wing, Idaho were also operating from Davis Monthan

under the operation Snowbird exercise.

With no drill weekend on Saturday 14th February I had it planned to over fly the boneyard in Tucson. Even though there is

less stored there than in the past its still a formidable sight.
I used Kelly Aviation out of Ryan Field after a good report from Patrick Stiphout who has used them previously.

The pilot done exactly as I wished and nothing was too much trouble flying circuits around the storage facility.
I had spied a E4 the Day previous sitting on the ramp at DM. So this was airframe target number 1
This E4 was supporting President Obamas trip to San Francisco and Palm Springs and was on showing (PINGING)  on the app  `ADSB` as "Johhny5".
